Critical Accounting Policies and Estimates
Our discussion and analysis of our financial condition and results of operations are based upon the accompanying unaudited condensed consolidated financial statements, which have been prepared in accordance with accounting principles generally accepted in the United States (“U.S. GAAP”). The preparation of financial statements in conformity with U.S. GAAP requires management to make judgments, estimates and assumptions that affect the reported amounts of assets, liabilities, revenue, expenses, and the related disclosures at the date of the financial statements and during the reporting period. Although these estimates are based on our knowledge of current events, our actual amounts and results could differ from those estimates. The estimates made are based on historical factors, current circumstances, and the experience and judgment of our management, who continually evaluate the judgments, estimates and assumptions and may employ outside experts to assist in the evaluations.
13 |
Certain of our accounting policies are deemed “critical”, as they are both most important to the financial statement presentation and require management’s most difficult, subjective or complex judgments as a result of the need to make estimates about the effect of matters that are inherently uncertain. For a discussion of our critical accounting policies, see “Management’s Discussion and Analysis of Financial Condition and Results of Operations” in our Annual Report on Form 10-K for the year ended September 30, 2014.

Liquidity and Capital Resources
Working capital was $6,375,415 at June 30, 2015 compared to $7,631,897 at September 30, 2014. This includes cash and cash equivalents of $872,795 at June 30, 2015 and $146,095 at September 30, 2014, respectively. The decrease in working capital was primarily due to increases in trade receivables, inventory, prepaid expenses and other current assets, purchases of property and equipment, payments on affiliated loans, and payments on bank loans, offset by a decrease in other assets, increases in accounts payable and accrued expenses, redemption of short-term investments, and proceeds from convertible notes.
Trade receivables increased $2,704,575 or 67% to $6,742,915 at June 30, 2015 from $4,038,340 at September 30, 2014. The increase in trade receivables is attributable to the timing of shipments of in-house orders not delivered in the prior quarter and collection of trade receivables.
Inventories increased $6,989 or less than 1% to $6,277,316 at June 30, 2015 from $6,270,327 at September 30, 2014. The increase in inventories was due to timing management of purchases for in-house orders.
Operating activities provided $3,107,487 of cash for the nine months ended June 30, 2015 compared to using cash of $1,336,662 of cash for the nine months ended June 30, 2014. The increase in operating cash flows was primarily due to the increase of trade payables during the nine months ended June 30, 2015.
Investment activities used $386,392 of cash for the nine months ended June 30, 2015 compared to using cash of $13,434,392 during the nine month period ended June 30, 2014. Investing activities were primarily driven by the purchase of property and equipment offset by the redemption of short-term investments.
Financing activities used $1,994,395 of cash for the nine month period ended June 30, 2015 as compared to providing cash of $16,014,329 in the nine month period ended June 30, 2014. Financing activities were primarily driven by payments on bank and affiliated loans offset by proceeds from convertible notes payable.
We believe that our cash on hand, cash generated by operations, is sufficient to meet the capital demands of our current operations during the 2015 fiscal year (ending September 30, 2015). Any major increases in sales, particularly in new products, may require substantial capital investment. Failure to obtain sufficient capital could materially adversely impact our growth potential.
